I've called Beaufort County home for 33 years, living in both Hilton Head and Bluffton. But I'm not just a resident — I'm a proven servant. As the current Chairman of the Beaufort County Transportation Committee, I don't just know we have traffic problems — I'm in the trenches solving them.
My values are a product of my commitment, not a seasonal talking point. With 25 years of service in the U.S. Army and a career as a Civil Engineer, I've spent my life solving hard problems with precision, accountability, and care.
I hear your concerns, and I have clear plans to balance our growth while preserving the culture, nature, and quality of life we all love. I won't need a 'grace period' to learn the ropes — I will hit the ground running on Day One.
"I am running to bring sound engineering logic to our government. We need to stop reacting to growth and start managing it." — Kraig Gordon
LTC (Ret.) Kraig Gordon's life has been defined by the values of Duty, Honor, and Country. His highly decorated military career began as a Private and concluded on the promotion list to Colonel.
Kraig holds a Master's Degree and a Professional Degree in Engineering Management/Public Works.
He successfully founded and grew three companies: Gordon Construction, Gordon Development, and Gordon Distribution.
He learned to deliver massive projects on time and under budget — a skill he now uses to protect your tax dollars.
Kraig has attended every County Council meeting for years. He knows the people, the issues, and the budget.
He will look at government spending through the lens of an engineer: efficiency is the goal, and transparency is the requirement.

As Chairman of the Beaufort County Transportation Committee, Kraig Gordon isn't just talking about traffic — he's already working to solve it.
Kraig will mandate "Value Engineering" on every project — ensuring the county gets the highest quality infrastructure at the lowest cost to taxpayers. No more rubber-stamping expensive proposals.
Leveraging his experience on the LATS (Lowcountry Area Transportation Study) Technical Committee, Kraig will advocate for the next steps of Highway 170, addressing growth while saving taxpayer money.
A comprehensive focus on all transit hubs to keep our economy and people moving. Beaufort County's growth demands investment in every mode of transportation — not just roads.

Beaufort County is growing whether we like it or not. Kraig Gordon's plan ensures that growth strengthens — rather than strains — our community.
Kraig will implement strict "Curb Cut" policies off County Roads to maintain traffic flow and safety. Too many poorly placed curb cuts are already choking our main roads — this stops.
Kraig will require developers to provide service roads so new developments don't bottleneck our main thoroughfares. If you build it, you fund the access — not the taxpayer.
Developer Impact Fees haven't been updated in years. Kraig will ensure developers pay their fair share to support the infrastructure their projects require. Growth should pay for growth.

Economic growth is a double-edged sword. Kraig Gordon believes we must seek a balanced approach that preserves our unique Lowcountry way of life.
We don't just need any business; we need the right businesses that our limited resources can sustain. Every economic development opportunity evaluated through the lens of long-term community benefit.
Every new business must be evaluated for its impact on our local schools and our fragile environment. The Lowcountry's marshes, waterways, and natural beauty are the foundation of our economy and quality of life.
The character of our community — the pace, the culture, the natural beauty — is worth protecting. Economic decisions made today will define the Lowcountry for the next generation.
